1Mr Hoffman also wrote the libretto to the Metropolitan Opera's "The Ghosts of Versailles" and the stage version of "As Is", which won the 1982 Drama Critics Award for Best Play and was nominated for Best Play of the Year at that season's Tony's. His latest play, "Riga", premiered at the Mark Taper Forum in California in 1999.
