Agostino “Dino” De Laurentiis (8 August 1919 — 10 November 2010) was an Italian film producer best known for creating science fiction, fantasy, and horror movies. Following his first film, L’ultimo Combattimento (1940), Laurentiis made almost 150 pictures during the following seven decades. In 1946 his firm, the Dino de Laurentiis Cinematografica, moved into creation. In the first years, De Laurentiis produced neorealist films like Bitter Rice (1946) as well as the Fellini classics La Strada (1954) and Nights of Cabiria (1956), frequently in collaboration with producer Carlo Ponti. In the 1960s, Laurentiis constructed his own studio facilities, although these fiscally failed during the 1970s. In 1976, De Laurentiis relocated to america and became an American citizen in 1986.
