Vincent Lamar “Vince” Carter (born January 26, 1977) is an American professional basketball player who now plays for the Dallas Mavericks of the NBA. He’s a shooting guard who is able to also play small forward.

A high school McDonald’s All American, Vince Carter played three years in the University of North Carolina. He won the 1999 NBA Rookie of the Year Award and won the Slam Dunk Contest in the 2000 NBA All-Star Weekend the next season. That summer, he represented America in the Summer Olympics, winning a gold medal. Vince Carter immediately emerged as a league star, entertaining crowds together with his jumping ability and slam dunks, earning him nicknames like “Vinsanity,” “Air Canada,” and “Half-Man, Half-Amazing.” He led the Raptors to their first three playoff appearances. In 2004, he was traded to the New Jersey Nets, and he helped lead them to three playoff spots. He joined the Mavericks in 2011. An eight-time NBA All Star, Carter joined Hall of Famers Julius Erving and Michael Jordan as the only players to lead the NBA All-Star Game fan voting over three times. Off the court, Vince Carter created his Embassy of Hope Foundation, helping children as well as their loved ones in Florida, New Jersey and Toronto.
