Guillermo del Toro Gmez (Spanish pronunciation:[iemo el also]; born October 9, 1964) is a Mexican film director, screenwriter, producer, and novelist. He was initially selected by Peter Jackson to direct “The Hobbit” movies; he left the job as a result of production issues but was still credited as co-writer for his numerous contributions to the script.
